Cash drawers are very often connected through an OPOS printer in a retail setup, but they still need to be created as a separate device in the LS Hardware Station.Ĭlick here for instructions on how to add this device to the Management Portal. Other HID compliant card swipes that do not use keyboard emulation are not supported.Cash drawer devices are handled and created as an OPOS device. Note: Only magnetic card swipes using keyboard emulation are supported for use at your workstations. To find the correct command to enter, you must refer to the hardware documentation provided with your cash drawer or contact the manufacturer. This command is specific to each receipt printer model and must be provided by the manufacturer of your cash drawer. Once the cash drawer is connected the receipt printer, you must access the corresponding workstation record within the system to identify the printer and enter the printer command needed to open the cash drawer. For more information about installing your cash drawer, see the hardware documentation supplied by the manufacturer. Before you can configure cash drawers within this application, you must connect the cash drawer to the machine through the receipt printer. Note: The cash drawers that are compatible with this system are those that are connected to a computer through a receipt printer. For more information, see Add Workstations. If workstations have not yet been added, you must add one before you can proceed with configuring a cash drawer. Typically, workstations are added to each machine when they are configured to print tickets and sales documents. For example, the cash drawer can be configured to open when the “Cash” payment method is selected during a sale or refund.īefore you can configure a cash drawer for a machine, you must add a “workstation” to the machine. A compatible cash drawer that is installed and configured correctly can open automatically based on the payment method selected during a transaction. ![]()
